… a honourable peak bagger

1 April , 2024 2:50 pmI found this when considering my own list of Percies and it’s very useful. I don’t know whether you have updated this more recently or checked some that you marked as “check next time”. I think if you have been to Burbidge and Sentry Box you will have got to the tops if you were trying. Herlt is difficult because (i) there are two granite stacks and its hard to tell which would be higher and, in any case, (ii) Both would be very difficult without equipment. I am pretty sure Gibraltar is a rope job. Square is a rope job. I am very pleased from your recent post to see that it is possible to get to the top of Billy Billy – I have been and returned with no points. I have managed the Pyramid using a large dead tree as a climbing aid and ditto McKeanhie trig. Both of these were foolishly dangerous undertakings. So all in all I think it is nearly impossible to become a Capital Peak Bagger without climbing equipment. One day I might try the Herlt possibilities with a rope ladder or something…
I think the fence at Ginini should count or it should be removed as a Percy. Its an irritating one!

1 April , 2024 3:09 pmYuma David. Wonderful! Thanks for taking the time to share all that. I haven’t updated my list recently. Unfortunately I got crook a couple of years ago and, ageing, I’m not capable of any high hills now, Absolutely sick that you got to the top of McKeahnie trig! … and came home alive. I’ll email you a contact for a guy who knows the crawls to Billy Billy Rocks and has done 2 recent trips. You may be able to convince him to go again! Keep on bagging. Cheers. Yarra. john
