Paddy Smiths Hut site

Paddy Smiths Hut site is located above Hospital Creek and south of the Old Boboyan Road in the Namadgi National Park.

Location: GR 55H FA 79698-41292 (MGA94), Yaouk 8626-2N 1:25000

Visit: 7 Jul 15 (shown to me by Matthew Higgins)

I first visited what I thought was this site, based on the Winston-Gregson thesis location, on 22 Sep 08

Photographs are available.

• KHA Namadgi database (private source). Site 291. May have been built between 1900 and 1913.  Today near an old hawthorn tree there are some stones, metal implements, etc marking the site.

Gudgenby: A register of archaeological sites in the proposed Gudgenby National Park, J H Winston-Gregson MA thesis, ANU, 1978. Site GR5. 100m south-west of Hospital Creek. Hut is granodiorite chimney, timber posts and slabs; presumed shed indicated by six postholes.
