Paddy Smiths Hut site
Paddy Smiths Hut site is located above Hospital Creek and south of the Old Boboyan Road in the Namadgi National Park.

I first visited what I thought was this site, based on the Winston-Gregson thesis location, on 22 Sep 08
Documentation:
• KHA Namadgi database (private source). Site 291. May have been built between 1900 and 1913. Today near an old hawthorn tree there are some stones, metal implements, etc marking the site.
• Gudgenby: A register of archaeological sites in the proposed Gudgenby National Park, J H Winston-Gregson MA thesis, ANU, 1978. Site GR5. 100m south-west of Hospital Creek. Hut is granodiorite chimney, timber posts and slabs; presumed shed indicated by six postholes. Vestigial: postholes, scattered timber posts and slabs, collapsed chimney; building was erected across a northward-facing slope. See extracts of the relevant pages in the photos above.
