Westerly storm brewing from the flanks of Big Monks

Track Notes

A geocache is always a tempting reason for a walk, so this one I had not logged provided the raison d’etre.

Two of us met, with a third to start late. Threatening storms coming in from the NW, so a very quick puff up the hill. Mark is so fit that he was able to talk us up; I just focused to breathing.

Reaching the saddle and the fire trail signs, we headed off through the thistles to the kurrajong tree. Mark picked the burrs out of his socks whilst I climbed the tree and logged GC7K5K0 Monk’s Mate.

On through more thistles to (withing a spit of) Big Monks – we weren’t going to hang about the metal quadruped trig for too long with the lightening about.

We exited off-track north down the spur, missing seeing Kambahkid on the fire trail round the other side of the eastern knoll. He phoned as we walked back, wondering were we’d got to.

A quick tromp back down. I’m a poor leader, as I didn’t wait for Derek to return.

Thanks Mark and Derek. We’ll do most things for a geocache.
