• Nothing is known of the history or purpose of these walls, despite asking many. A concerted campaign by Tim the Yowie Man revealed no clues.

28 February , 2017 5:09 pmHello again John. Thanks for the information in your website re the dry stone walls of Glendale.
I did the walk on Saturday (slightly different route to yours) and I found the first of the walls (the smaller ones) but no matter how hard I tried, I couldn’t locate the second larger wall. I even used my electronic navigation device and according to that, I was right on top of it. Very frustrating!
Note: I can’t count the number of times I’ve been ‘right on top’ of something and couldn’t find it.
Anyway, the return journey, which pretty much followed your described path in your write-up was atrocious. I think the undergrowth has grown a lot so the going was pretty tough and I only had short sleeves on, so spent most of Saturday evening digging out the thorns in my forearms. I was glad to see the flats at the bottom of the hill!
Anyway, thanks again for your information. I’ve also done a write-up on my website as there appears to be so little written about the walls.
Regards
Steve
