Ducklings in the new Chinese Gardens
Saturday 6 Dec 14 Lake Burley Griffin – Western Basin Loop M/E. Meet at the National Library at 0730 following the LBG walking/ bike track around the western basin. A 16 km walk for the time poor taking about 4-5 hours depending on breaks to allow for an early finish. Walk limit: 8 due to the shared nature of the LBG track. Leader: Edwina Y. Transport: drive yourself or let me know if you need a lift. Bookings required by 3pm, Friday 5 Dec 14.

Nothing to say really, except that the company was excellent and the walk provided a good try out for my new orthotics for the Cbr100Challenge. The bike bath (or, more correctly, shared path) is very hard on feet.
As usual, many different types of lake users. Although fewer beautiful people away from the central basin. The thunderstorms also held off until the last couple of kilometres.
We went out via the southern side and back via the northern side, so a clockwise lap. A 15min stop at the picnic area near Scrivener Dam for morning tea.
Oh – and the opportunity to grab a few easy trad geocaches. Always a hard task balancing staying with the group and logging a cache. But a haul of 8: GC2T0BR Peace (before the walk started), GC4059J Go Jump in the Lake!, GC4FX25 Double Chins, GC55JGZ Scrivener Scramble 2, GC55T8G Pointy Pine, GC55T7W Red Dwarf Rocks, GC4HM3T GrimRaider’s – Frank Foils Floppsy! (great camo!) and GC2KQP9 Logans Run. Had a quick look for GC18GRJ Fore!midable Contribution after the walk, but a DNF as I had to get home.
