Track Notes

My timing was a bit wrong on this and we got no night walk. But perhaps best for the afternoon conditions, with some lightening and lots of thunder rolling around the hills from lunchtime on. We all agreed that it was good exercise.

We arrived at Cotter Hut at 12.30pm, the 21km via the Cotter Hut Road taking 4 hours. (the last time I did the same was with Joy on 16 Oct 16 and we managed 4hrs 30mins with overnight bags). We had some lunch (inside, as it had started to rain), We left as the last of the broom clearers returned and the celebratory cake was being dressed with 25 candles, as it was their celebration and we were interlopers.

But benefit, as Alan V kindly offered to drive us across the Cotter River ford so our footwear remained dry.

Our return trip along the AAWT was 15km in 3 hours. Coats on a couple of times, but it was more noise than rain. The girls showed me clean pairs of heels going up the Pond Creek cut to Cotter Gap.

Some nice flowers sighted during the day.

Jacqui was going home for a cup of tea and out to Scottish dancing; Ming no doubt to something exciting. I arrived home and collapsed into bed for a couple of hours.

Thank you for your company, ladies. An congratulations to the Canberra Bushwalking Club for 25 years of broom clearing!
