Saturday 4 April 2026: Molonglo Ridge * – L/M. Many have driven Woolcara Lane to walk in the Yanununbeyan Reserve. But very few would have walked on the Woolcara property (owner’s permission required). A unique opportunity to walk the rolling hills of the Molonglo Ridge, from Mt Molonglo to Yarrow Pic. Around 18km and 400m climb. Open farmland walking with 1 or 2 fences.

Trip Report
I was last on the Molonglo Ridge on 2 Jun 18.
Not sure where I got the advertised 400vm climb from 🙁. It was double that. But we all coped cheerfully, even me.
This hike is on private property. We had the nod from the owning family and the property manager.
A brisk 250vm climb to the crest of the Molonglo Ridge got our hearts pumping.
The blue sky disappeared and the rest of the day was cool and overcast – perfect walking weather.
The ridge consists of a number of rolling knolls, brilliant green after recent rains.
Three fences to cross as we curved round the N end of the crest to our first destination.
A unique trig with a nearby ecce found by Steve.
Smoko had been forgotten, so we settled in for a 40-minute brunch with views.
The return trip began at 1pm, the inward ups turning into downs and vice versa.
A group of 4 wedge-tailed eagles soared on the updraughts as crows hassled them.
Some local sculpture.
Back at the point we’d gained the crest, we continued SW for a 2km round trip to bag Mt Molonglo.
Associated infrastructre.
Back down from the crest via the vehicle track, through the buildings and back to our vehicles by 3.30pm.
Thanks all. Trust you enjoyed the opportunity to walk in this area.
