Getting There

This walk was organised and led by Chris M and Rob H as a CBC walk:

Saturday 25 August - Art/Photography, Shepherds Lookout, Murrumbidgee River - M/E. From Shepherd’s Lookout in Belconnen follow the trail down to the Molonglo River, cross the river then continue to Uriarra Crossing, follow the track around Sturt Island, walk off trail to the confluence of the Molonglo and Murrumbidgee Rivers, then climb back up to Shepherds Lookout for a final, magnificent view of the Murrumbidgee River towards the ACT/NSW border. Approx 8 km and 3–4 hours. Depart from Shepherds Lookout car park, Stockdill Street, Holt at 10 am. Map: Umburra: Leaders: Rob H and Chris M. Bookings to Chris. Transport: n/a.

Track

A pleasant amble to admire the views from Shepherds Lookout, then along the track to the foot bridge over the Molonglo. Unfortunately it was a fraction underwater and very slippery after the recent rain, so we couldn't cross. We wandered up the side of the Molonglo River a bit, enjoyed morning tea and plenty of chat, then returned.

Opportunities for short walks down the Murrumbidgee on either side of the river, in the future.
