Walk
It took as long to drive there and back as the walk, but these little Canberra Nature Park wanders in areas I have never seen before continue to delight me. And 20 people walked, so they delight others, too. A round from the above mentioned little car park and stiled and gated entry, up a gully along fire trails through thinly treed bush, past a couple of dams and so to a fence line along the ridge. After turning S along the ridge there were views back N to Mt Majura (see pic 1) and SE over cleared ground to the airport (see pic 2). A turn back to the NW and over a gentle saddle between the two hills, then N beside the backs of the houses to our start point. Many others were out mountain bike riding and walking, enjoying the evening. See the Canberra Nature Park Mt Ainslie Nature Reserve brochure. Thanks Stan, very nice. Distance: 5.5km Climb: 150m. Time: 6.35-8pm (call it 1.5hrs). |
