This walk was a CBC walk led by Rob H.  5 of us walked.  We met in Kambah and drove via Point Hut Crossing along the Corin Dam Road to Woods Reserve.  We left one car there.  We all piled in the second car and drove further up the Corin Dam Road to just across Gibraltar Creek.  We took the first forestry track on the left and parked the car a few metres in. 

We set off up the forestry track at 9.20am, taking the second branch on the left to head to the Hut marked on first edition maps at GR753696 (AGD66).  It is not marked on second edition maps and there is no sign of it on the ground.  We spent 5 minutes swanning around, then our trusty leader fixed his sights on Spot Height 1332.  Artful navigation took us across the burnt out pine forest area and up the more gentle SW approach, reaching the hill top at 10.15am.  We paused for 10 minutes, then continued NE across the map border to a sunny rock slab for morning tea.

20 minutes later we headed north then NW across the drainage line and to the next obvious peak.  We were hoping to see down east to the cleared Booroomba property, but the trees hid the view.  However, there were good views to the NW over Woods Reserve to the Pyramid and along to Gibraltar Rocks, with Tidbinbilla Ridge in the background.  We enjoyed 10 minutes of view and photos here.

All that remained was to scoot down the hill to Woods Reserve, a drop of 460m over 1.5km and taking 1 hour 15 minutes.  Just off the top we crossed the dog proof fence (marked on first edition maps).  We reckoned it was still effective, as no dog could possibly crawl under it.  Lunch was enjoyed at a comfortable picnic table, then back to pick up the other car.

A great exploratory ramble.  Now we all know what's up along the ridge we see as we drive up the Corin Dam Road.
