Getting There
This walk was organised by Mark S as a church family walk. 20 of us, ranging in age from 6 to 60s walked. A long drive from Canberra to Jindabyne, then on the Kosciuszko Road past Sponar's Chalet to the car park at Dainer's Gap. |
Walk
This was my first experience of the alpine area and, although a very short family outing, it whetted my appetite for more at some stage. In addition, I had my first (and last) lesson in fly casting (Mark S is an avid fly fisherman!). We walked in from the road side car park along a well made track, across the dam wall to a lovely picnic spot on the eastern side of the lake. A friend and I extended the walk by a stroll up Diggers Creek to the area marked on the track signage as Harveys Camp. We also circumnavigated the lake. Distance: 4km |
