I did this walk with my good mate Peter B.  We drove to Rani Road and began from there.

We walked from Rani Road to the closest track, following it south-east then east as it contoured around the base of the mountain.  The track then followed up a spur, crossed a creek line and continued up the spur (a track not marked on the map, but very well defined.

We crossed a little wooden bridge back across the creek and met Black Mountain Drive at the car park, spot height 757.  Then on up the track from the northern end of the car park, with Telstra Tower looming over us.

We paused to take in the view, then retraced our steps.

We then drove to the Australian National Botanic Gardens for a stroll and lunch.
